Principal David Shiner presented IRS Collection Procedures

On Thursday, Nov. 7, Chuhak & Tecson, P.C. principal David Shiner presented on IRS Collection Procedures to the Independent Accountants Association of Illinois (IAAI). Shiner discussed tax liens and levies and how to defend against them through collection due process hearings, collection appeal requests, installment agreements and offers in compromise.

Leader of the firm’s Tax and Employee Benefits practice group, Shiner works closely with his clients resolving tax controversies and structuring transactions that minimize exposure to state and federal estate taxes. Shiner is also a certified public accountant with a master of laws in taxation. He is highly experienced with handling cases in the U.S. Tax Court in gift, estate and income tax matters.

IAAI was established in 1949 and is the Illinois State Affiliate Organization of the National Society of Accountants. In this age of specialization, IAAI continues to fill an important niche, providing education and information to its members who serve small businesses and individuals. Through interaction at local chapter meeting, seminars and state meetings, members are in a position to alert clients about important tax law changes and changes in business practices that affect their business and financial activities.
