Mark regularly appears in federal and state courts and before arbitrators to obtain the most efficient manner of resolution and develops legal strategies that incorporate his client’s unique business objectives.
Recent successes include:
- successfully representing national online travel companies in high-profile tax litigation pending in federal and state courts as well as nationwide administrative agencies, and prevailing on motions for summary judgment and defeating motions for class certification on their behalf;
- prevailing on a motion to dismiss in a multimillion-dollar Computer Fraud and Abuse Act claim filed in the Northern District of Illinois;
- preventing a business disruption that had the potential of causing significant revenue loss for a client’s supply chain of goods by successfully arguing a motion for a temporary restraining order in the Northern District of Illinois;
- successfully negotiating a disclosure-only settlement that resulted in no payment required from his clients by defeating a shareholder class action matter that sought to enjoin his client’s merger transaction;
- obtaining a favorable settlement in a high-profile breach of contract and negligence lawsuit pending in the Southern District of Texas for the largest national employee benefits consultant company; and
- prevailing on a bench trial for contested guardianship proceedings in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois, for a pro bono client named guardian in a will of a minor’s father, a Kenyan immigrant.
Immediately following law school, Mark served as a law clerk for the Honorable Norman C. Roettger of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida and for the Honorable John J. O’Sullivan of the Southern District of Florida. During law school he was member of the University of Illinois Law Review and served as a summer extern for Judge Robert W. Gettleman of the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He also held the position of an honors paralegal for the US Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division before attending law school.
Mark served on the Planning Committee for the Seventh Circuit Bar Association’s 2018 annual meeting, and he is a board member for the Boys and Girls Club of Lake County, Illinois. He is currently a member of Chuhak & Tecson’s Finance Committee.
