Cy’s breadth of experience includes representing banks, equipment lessors, finance companies, lease brokers and equipment vendors on a nationwide basis in commercial litigation, bankruptcies, transactional and appellate matters.
Representative litigation matters:
- Second chaired trial that resulted in a judgment and award of attorney’s fees concerning complex commercial equipment lease litigation following multiple bankruptcy filings, counterclaims concerning fraud, statute of limitations and consumer protection claims.
- Successfully enforced judgment for detinue and replevin in an action seeking return of personal property collateral wrongfully taken or held. Following entry of rejudgement, debtor fled to Florida and cached collateral with various third parties in Wisconsin and Illinois. Because of Cy’s efforts to locate and recover the collateral in multiple jurisdictions, the lender’s team was able to liquidate collateral on an expedited base at sale, which netted proceeds that resulted in a quick sale of the collateral sufficient to cover more than 80% of client’s judgment.
Cy understands how to communicate with clients and convey accurate, important and often sensitive information needed to make an informed business decision. He is a responsive, respectful and considerate attorney who still prefers a phone call to discuss approach and strategy to an ongoing email-string.
Away from the office, Cy appreciates new experiences, from travel, to new restaurants, to checking out eclectic events like pop-up blues concerts. He likes the challenge that comes with working with his hands, including repairing and improving his motorcycles, finding and refurbishing antique items and, in quieter moments, playing guitar.
