If litigation is unavoidable, Brandon leads and manages all aspects of the litigation process, developing the optimal approach at the earliest phase of a dispute and implementing that strategy throughout the various stages of a case, from motion practice and discovery through trial and on appeal, never losing sight of the value of settlement.
Brandon enforces the rights and remedies of lenders in proceedings such as foreclosure actions, replevin suits, and fraudulent transfer cases. Brandon represents secured and unsecured creditors in all phases of Ch. 7 and 11 bankruptcies, including cash collateral, valuation, and stay relief hearings, in addition to adversary proceedings. He also defends financial institutions against lender liability claims and other commercial disputes brought by depositors and third parties.
Brandon’s commercial litigation practice includes the representation of businesses, not for profit organizations and individuals in breach of contract, business tort, restrictive covenant, ownership dispute and other cases.
In real estate litigation, Brandon represents title insurers in coverage disputes and their insureds in title, priority, easement, forgery and other real estate matters. Brandon also handles a variety of landlord-tenant matters as well as mechanics lien cases.
Brandon has served on the firm’s Strategy Development Committee. He currently serves as chair of the Finance Committee.
After earning his law degree, with honors, from Chicago-Kent College of Law, Brandon served as an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office where he first chaired dozens of trials and handled more than 30 appeals. After that, he joined a Chicagoland litigation boutique as an associate and was later elevated to partner.
Brandon is an avid fan of his Chicago sports teams, and outside of practicing law, you may find him taking in a game, hopefully a meaningful one, with his wife and their two children.
