Our roots in the Chicago area are deep and strong. Tom Chuhak was a decorated fighter pilot who was fearless in the courtroom, served for 16 years as Public Administrator of Cook County and represented leading Chicago area families and corporations. Joe Tecson had an extraordinary influence on institutions which make up the fabric of the Chicago metropolitan area. He served with the leading public figures of his time in leadership roles in the 1969 Illinois Constitutional Convention, the Boards of the Regional Transportation Authority, Cook County Forest Preserves, Brookfield Zoo, Cook County Hospital and MacNeal Hospital. He was the first Asian-American to serve on the Cook County Board. Both Tom and Joe were kind-hearted and exhibited an unparalleled degree of decorum.

Tom, Joe and the nine other attorneys and assistants who joined them to create Chuhak & Tecson wanted to create a professional home where talented attorneys and staff could provide responsive service and creative solutions to their clients. They sought to establish a firm built on a solid foundation of integrity and dedication to client service that would continue their lifelong commitment to community leadership and service.

A team of 68 attorneys and more than 70 professional and support staff members now carries on and builds on their legacy. Some of those who were there at the beginning remain at the firm; others have launched and spent their entire careers here; and many have come from other paths, infusing the firm with new ideas to ensure we stay relevant – all the while building upon the principles and priorities that have defined Chuhak & Tecson.
